How will your Tribute Fund help St Columba's Hospice?

Your Tribute Fund will enable us to continue providing care to other families who need our help - paying salaries for the nurses, doctors and health professionals in the wards; for our community nurses who visit patients at home; and by providing vital funding for our Day Hospice and Outpatient services. It will help us pay for the drugs that relieve pain and the hand prepared meals our patients look forward to.

Your Fund will also will help us to pay for our counselling services and the spiritual and psychological care we provide. In short, your Tribute Fund will ensure the highest standard of care continues to be available for those who need it at the most challenging of times.

How a Tribute Fund can help you

A Tribute Fund can provide a way for you, and your friends and family, to share your thoughts and memories about the person you have lost. It is a way to celebrate the life of someone you love whilst ensuring the care they received will be available for others who need it.

Fay's Story

Fay became a volunteer at St Columba's Hospice after her husband Robert died at the Hospice. Having spent most of her working life as a school dinner-lady, Fay is now using her skills in our Iona Café, serving tea, coffee and snacks to patients and visitors. When Fay heard about Tribute Funds she told us that she would like to open a Fund in memory of Robert. Fay explained: "When Robert died, all the family were devastated including our grandkids, who thought the world of him."We are a very close family and have great memories of family times spent together. Occasions at home always seemed to centre around the kitchen table. My son always says to me ‘Mum, if our table could talk!’ “Robert and I loved our family and we also loved our holidays together. At every opportunity possible, we would be booking our next holiday. We travelled across the world together and those lovely experiences will never be replaced."

"Although our family will always have our memories and treasured photographs, a Tribute Fund will give us something tangible to remember Robert by and honour his memory. It will also be very meaningful for us to support the Hospice in Robert's memory. The Hospice looked after all of us and it is really important for us to give something back. As a family, we all love the idea of the memorial Forget-Me-Not flower garden and having Robert's name on a leaf in the garden will be a very special tribute to Robert and how much he was loved."
